Angola: A’mosi Just A Label tours Portugal ahead of new album
02 Sep 2021 - 16:38
Angolan artist A’mosi Just A Label has embarked on a tour of Portugal ahead of his new album, due on 22 October.
The tour will take place throughout September, and will see the musician perform at the Casa de Pedra, Theatro Circo in Braga, and the Lisbon International Music Network.
The singer told Music In Africa that he would also use the tour to announce his new single ‘Coisas Simples’, due for release on 15 September.
A’mosi Just A Label says heading back on tour after being sequestered for almost two years due to COVID-19 “feels good.”
“Across the music scene, everybody is trying to adapt to the new reality,” he said. “COVID is still out there and people should take good care of themselves. The more solutions we have of the pandemic, the more people will re-embrace live events.”
The musician sings in Kikongo, fusing contemporary and urban influences in homage to the musical genre konono soul. His craft is also characterised by poetry and spoken word. Thematically, the singer’s work revolves around the value of existence. He also emphasises togetherness, spirituality and simplicity.
A’mosi Just A Label rose to fame in 2014 with the Jack Nkanga EP, released on his independent label Konono Soul Music. Since then, he has gone on to play around the world, most notably, Rock in Rio Lisboa, Atlantic Music Expo in Cape Verde, Medimex Innovation Music Expo in Italy, Werkstatt der Kulturen in Germany, the Midnight Sun Extravaganza Festival in Israel and the Shrine World Music in New York.
About his musical journey so far, A’mosi said: I“ have been treading a path I think is still very small but I like it because of what I have been able to accomplish so far. Those who identify with my music greatly appreciate my work, and that is a great motivation.”
