Audio Girl Foundation launches campaign for young African women

The initiative follows the organisation’s March boot camp in commemoration of International Women’s Day, and aims to raise $10 000 to support young African women who aspire to work as professionals in the music and audio industry.

The campaign seeks to address the lack of female representation in the industry and provide access to quality opportunities and training for young African women. It says that less than 1% of music professionals in Africa are females.

“We understand that the lack of female representation in the music and audio industry is not due to a lack of interest from women but rather a problem of access to opportunities and quality training that are also affordable for the average African girl,” Audio Girl Foundation co-founder Phebean Adedamola Oluwagbemi said.

“Through our fundraising campaign, we hope to address this issue and make a significant difference in the lives of young African women who aspire to work in the music and audio industry.”

Initiatives supported by the campaign will include an Audio Girl workshop as well as learning courses and programmes. These efforts will provide participants with mentorship, training and networking opportunities.
