Audiomack partners with ACRCloud on music filtering system

US music streaming and audio distribution platform Audiomack has partnered with ACRCloud on a new music content-filtering system.
ACRCloud is a Chinese-owned automatic content recognition platform that uses audio fingerprinting technology to detect music. The partnership will see ACRCloud’s copyright protection technology used to scan all newly uploaded music to Audiomack, which the company says averages thousands every day.
When it launched in 2012, Audiomack focused on direct uploads from artists before signing its first major licensing deal with leading music rights holder Warner Music Group last year.
Audiomack joins other music platforms that have partnered with ACRCloud, including Believe, which inked a deal with the company last year.
In 2018, YouTube said it had spent more than $100m developing its Content Identity system, which detects copyrighted music in uploads and gives rightsholders the option to remove, leave or monetise videos.
Audiomack says it has more than 8 million users around the world. The service is free and ad-supported, although it also offers a $4.99 monthly subscription. It also offers the Audiomack Monetisation Platform, which is similar to SoundCloud's Premier tier that pays out royalties to artists.
