Belgian festival to host Stonebwoy, Fally Ipupa

"This summer, on 21, 22 and 23 of July," says a statement from the festival, "Belgium’s largest beach welcomes a new tropical festival. Internationally acclaimed artists from all over the Carribean, South America and Africa will immerse Zeebrugge Beach for three full days in a tropical southern vibe."

A first-time festival, Bomboclat will feature more than 40 acts over three days as it brings music from outside of Europe to Strand van Zeebrugge, Belgium's biggest beach.

Since his emergence on the music scene, Stonebwoy has become one of the top reggae-dancehall acts on the continent. He has performed in several countries around the world, and recently was the sole African act included in a compilation album released by a record label based in Jamaica.

Back in Ghana, however, he is part of a controversy involving rival reggae-dancehall act Shatta Wale. The latter's song 'Taking Over' is said to contain lines attacking Stonebwoy, who has insisted that he has no problems with Shatta Wale, saying in a recent interview, "I have to be sincere, I do not hear any shots thrown at me."

The Bomboclat Festival is a return to Europe for Stonebwoy. He headlined a celebration of his country's independence in Oslo, Norway, on 11 March. In recognition of his work over the past year, he was nominated in the Best International: Africa category ahead of the 2017 BET Awards. A win at the ceremony would mean a second gong for the 'Enku Lenu' singer, who won in the same category two years ago.

The Bomboclat Festival will also feature Congolese star Fally Ipupa, Konshens, Charly Black and others.
