The organisers of Burundi's annual Isanganiro Radio Awards have announced the list of nominees for the eighth edition of the event.
The awards ceremony will take place at the French Institute in Bujumbura on 14 March and the nomination list features 10 artists across different genres.
"In this edition of the Isanganiro Radio Awards we have nominated songs that were released between 2019 and 2020," the awards’ chairperson, Christian Nsavye, told Music In Africa.
"Unlike other awards, we do not have many categories. We just award the best song from any genre such as gospel and reggae. When nominating we look at the vocal capability of the artist, the message in the song, originality, production and arrangement. We’ve had requests from artists to include several categories but unfortunately we cannot change our format for the time being."
The public can vote for their favourite artists by dialling *190*#.
Voting closes on 14 March at 2 pm.
Below are the nominees:
- 'Vota Vota' – MB Data
- 'Umubabaro' – Sat-B
- 'Umbamwo' – Esther Nish and Kidum
- 'Ijambo' – Eden Banga
- 'Africa' – Natacha
- 'Sorry' – Vichou
- 'Bitumingi' – Esther Nish
- 'Oloha' – DJ Philbyte and B-Face
- 'Focus' – M Data
