Call for applications: 2021 Medici International Music Competition
24 Jun 2021 - 10:23
Applications are currently ongoing for the 2021 edition of the Medici International Music Competition (MIMC).
The online competition is open to all nationalities and ages in piano, strings, wind, vocal and chamber music. The organisers say the contest seeks to provide a platform that encourages young and professional musicians to perform and grow.
The deadline for applications is 30 June.
The MIMC comprises two rounds.
Preliminary
- Participants are required to submit a video recording of their performance (YouTube or Vimeo link) titled ‘Free Application’. The video recorded on the YouTube or Vimeo link must have been made not later than 12 months preceding the date of the entry.
- The video clip length should not exceed 30 minutes of continuous performance.
- The video recording must be solely performed by the applicant. The competition allows only one video per participant and the recording cannot be edited. No effects should be added to any portion of the video entry, though it is acceptable to have an introduction title with the musician’s name, the title of the piece and composer. The musician may have an accompaniment to their entry if desired.
- Contestants approved to advance will participate in the competition with the same piece submitted for the initial screening.
- Only those who are selected in the qualifying round are entitled to advance to the final round (the same entry video is used for both rounds).
Final round
- The approved contestants will receive an email notification/invitation containing instructions on how to apply. Only the contestants who pass the qualifying round (initial screening) can advance to the final round. Email notifications will be sent according to the competition schedule.
