Call for applications: ACCES 2025 Marketing/PR Officer

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) seeks to hire a Marketing/PR Officer for the ACCES 2025 music conference taking place in Tshwane, South Africa, from 30 October to 1 November 2025.
The Marketing/PR Officer will play a key role in ensuring visibility, strong stakeholder turnout, and local engagement for ACCES 2025. This person will drive customised communications, help mobilise targeted audiences in Tshwane and Johannesburg, and assist in the coordination of strategic outreach campaigns leading up to the event.
The Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases, or simply ACCES, is a pan-African platform for music industry players from across the continent to exchange ideas, discover new talent and accelerate the shaping of the vibrant music sector on the continent. ACCES is held in a different African city every year, attracting delegates from more than 40 countries. The event takes place over three days, offering a dynamic programme including training workshops, panel discussions, presentations, live performances, networking sessions, exhibitions and visits to key music industry hubs in the host city. The position will run from August to November 2025. The call is only open to applicants based in Gauteng, South Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a targeted mobilisation plan for institutions, artists, industry leaders, and government officials in Tshwane and Johannesburg.
- Draft and send customised invitations for high-profile guests and key local stakeholders.
- Maintain and update stakeholder contact lists and RSVP tracking.
- Assist in local dissemination of marketing materials, press releases, posters, and digital content.
- Liaise with local media outlets to pitch stories and coordinate interviews with ACCES spokespeople or artists.
- Help coordinate social media activations and ensure consistent messaging aligned with MIAF brand guidelines.
- Identify and engage local music communities, networks, and organisations to drive awareness and participation.
- Support the recruitment and briefing of volunteers, brand ambassadors, and street team promoters.
- Provide on-the-ground support in Tshwane and Johannesburg in the lead-up to the event (e.g., distribution of physical materials, guest list confirmations).
- Assist during the conference with guest reception, media coordination, and stakeholder follow-ups.
Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in PR, event marketing, or community mobilisation.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience working in the cultural or creative industries is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of the South African arts and cultural landscape.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort dealing with high-level stakeholders.
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where needed.
