The Ministry of Arts and Culture in Mauritius is accepting applications for its new travel grant scheme.
The grant is for artists who wish to participate in internationally established cultural festivals and venues.
The application process will be open throughout the year. Preference will be given to original projects geared towards raising the profile of Mauritian works and its artists.
Eligibility
- Applicants should be of Mauritian nationality.
- Applicants should have lived in Mauritius for at least five years.
- The trip should be to at least five countries.
Requirements
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Copies of birth certificate and national ID card of all members of the group.
- Letter of registration from the Ministry of Arts and Culture and Mauritius Society of Authors (MASA).
- Quotations of air ticket from at least three different travel agencies.
- Past experience of applicant in the field of the project (to be supported by documentary evidence including names/number of similar works produced, videos and press cuttings).
- Financial breakdown.
- Implementation schedule.
- ‘Ministry of Arts and Culture’ should appear in all publicity material related to the project.
- The applicant will be required to handle other formalities and arrangements. The Ministry will only pay for the air ticket(s).
Financial support
The Ministry of Arts and Culture will award up to 200 000 Mauritian rupees ($5 800).
Upon completion of the trip, applicants will be required to submit the following:
- A documentary evidence for participation in the event. In case of non-participation owing to the fault of participants, the latter will have to reimburse the total amount of the grant within a mutually agreed time frame with the ministry.
- A breakdown of full cost of participation in the event including financial and other contributions received by the applicant and his own contribution.
- A report on their participation within 30 days of return.
Note that priority will be given to applicants who will channel their invitation through the government of the organising country.
