Call for applications: Bayimba Foundation general manager in Uganda

The Bayimba Foundation in Uganda is seeking a self-driven general manager with previous experience in arts management.
Throughout the year, the Bayimba Foundation hosts high-quality developmental arts programmes that offer training courses and workshops for aspiring artists. Some of the foundation's key projects include the DOADOA performing arts market, the Amakula Film Festival, the Kampala International Theatre Festival and the Bayimba Academy.
Skills and requirements
Interested applicants should:
- Have experience in arts management.
- Have knowledge of both local and international fundraising.
- Have experience of working with computerised accounts systems.
- Commit to arts and cultural growth and sustainability.
- Have three to four years’ experience working in management.
- Have proven experience in human resource management.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills.
- Have the ability to communicate with stakeholders and funders efficiently in a courteous, professional manner under pressure.
Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Oversee personnel administration, including recruitment, induction, employment contracts and delegating to the rest of the team as appropriate.
- Oversee the foundation's approach to professional development for staff, maintaining records of staff training and working with line managers to identify suitable training opportunities for staff.
- Ensure that the foundation is compliant with all appropriate legal and tax regulations.
- Ensure the foundation's policies are regularly updated, compliant, clearly communicated, implemented, and fit for purpose.
- Ensure the highest standards of staff and child protection and safeguarding.
- Oversee operational budgets, ongoing review of supply contracts ensuring that both value for money and ethical and environmental standards are achieved.
- Fundraise, manage donor relations and reporting in consultation with the artistic director.
