Call for applications: Karibu Music Festival

The applications are open until 31 August 2017 and interested artists are invited to apply as early as possible.

Tanzanian artists will get a modest performance fee while artists from abroad will receive accommodation, local transport and per diem.

International artists are encouraged to source support to cover travel expenses such as airfare, visa and insurance. The organisers will send a formal invitation letter to facilitate the solicitation for such support. For enquiries, contact the festival office on [email protected]

KMF is organised by the Karibu Cultural Promotions Organisation in collaboration with Legendary Music. The organisers aim to promote African music and culture to the rest of the world, introduce other countries’ cultures to Africa as well as build collaborations between participants.

The festival, which will be held on the 200 hectare seaside grounds at the TASUBA college of arts and culture, is not genre-specific. It is open to all forms of music, be it traditional, modern or a fusion of genres. Pop, rock, reggae, hip hop, jazz, country, electronic and alternative artists can apply. Last year’s line-up included South Africa's TheCITY band, Afro-jazz artist Siphokazi, Nkwali (Zimbabwe), Cie Art Dic (Togo), traditional music and dance group Twekembe Performers (Uganda), Kenyan band Third Hand Music, and Egypt’s Karakeeb. They played alongside Tanzanian acts like Inafrika Band.
