Call for applications: Online retreat for feminist artists and activists

The programme allows persons working and organising on feminisms, gender and sexuality to share their research, ideas and projects in a creative and conversational setup.

Interested individuals should offer a submission with a duration of up to 30 minutes. This can be a short provocation, a reading, a podcast, an extract or a full performance, a viewing, or a research presentation, amongst other forms. The medium of the presentation is nonacademic and flexible, as long as it is an original work relating to the subject and can be presented in an online format.

A total of 16 applicants will be selected to share their work in a two-day online retreat as part of the Tashweesh festival set for next year. Each presenter will receive € 580 ($ 703) for their participation in the programme.

Who can apply?

This call is a paid opportunity for individuals who are from or based in the following countries: Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia.

Applications from women will be prioritised.

Requirements

Interested individuals should submit the following:

• A short biography.
• CV.
• Description of the work (or ideas), which should include the title, description, form, duration, language, and motivation (one A4 page max, font size 11).
• Portfolio with selected visual works, writing samples, links of previous works or links to articles on your work (optional).

About the Tashweesh festival

The Tashweesh festival is a multi-locations multidisciplinary art festival aiming to facilitate new feminist alliances and give a platform to interdisciplinary art and research practices of intersectional feminism in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. It is co-funded by Creative Europe and implemented by Beursschouwburg (Belgium), Tanzquartier Wien (Austria), Goethe-Institut Brüssel (Belgium) and L'Art Rue.
