Call for applications: Sylvia Massy and Eighth Day scholarships in the UK

ACM, which has campuses in Guildford, London and Birmingham, is a leading provider of education in the creative industries. The institute offers programmes at degree and diploma level, including music performance, music production, music business, creative artistry, technical services and games development.

With the new opportunities, ACM now offers more than £130 000 ($160 000) through its annual scholarship programme.

Sylvia Massy is an award-winning producer known for her work with Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash and Prince. Her scholarship, which is worth £27 000, will give one music production student up to three years of study at ACM. The scholarship aims to inspire the next generation of talent into the world of music production.

"I am so proud to be offering this ground-breaking scholarship together with ACM,” Massy said. “I share their passion for supporting new and fresh talent in the music industry, so this felt like a very natural partnership. ACM's industry-based education is second to none, so I know that the recipient will be in excellent hands. I'm really looking forward to reviewing the applications and supporting the winning student's journey into the music industry with ACM."

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a video with a link to a song they have produced.

In addition, students applying for ACM's technical services route now have the opportunity to apply for the 2020 Eighth Day Scholarship. Eighth Day Sound is a world-renowned live sound specialist that has worked with prominent artists such as Beyoncé, Drake, Taylor Swift and The 1975, among others.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer such an exciting opportunity to the next generation of industry professionals looking to enter the constantly evolving area of technical services,” Eighth Day Sound Systems project manager Stuart Gilmore said. “Being able to contribute directly to a student's development is a great privilege, one that we all look forward to supporting with the global resources of Eighth Day Sound."

The Eighth Day Scholarship is valid on the two-year accelerated programme worth £22 000. Applicants must submit a video application to apply.

Other scholarships in the programme include the Freddie Mercury Foundation, Skunk Anansie, Ivors Academy and Lowde Music Trust.

The deadline for all ACM scholarships is June 2020 and only enrolled students are eligible to apply.
