South Africa's theatrical casting company Word of Mouth Pictures is calling on interested singers to audition for the latest run of the hit musical The Lion King.
The call is open to singers between the ages of 18 and 30. No previous experience is necessary to audition.
The upcoming auditions will be held on the following dates and venues in South Africa.
- 21 October at Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg.
- 28 October at the Playhouse Theatre in Durban.
- 1 November at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town.
Note: Individuals who have auditioned within the past five years and have been shortlisted and given materials are urged to send a WhatsApp 071 554 8762 or send an email to [email protected] with their details to receive an audition date. This also applies to those who have sent their details before.
The Lion King has been running for nearly 30 years, with each production featuring South African singers. The global phenomenon began in 1994 as a Disney animated feature film. This led to several sequels, spin-off TV series, educational shorts, several video games, merchandise and the third longest-running musical in Broadway history.
In Africa, the musical debuted in South Africa in June 2007, with its 10-year anniversary taking place at the Teatro Theatre in Johannesburg.
