The organisers of the annual Ghana DJ Awards are calling on undiscovered and established DJs to apply for the Battle of Our Time challenge ahead of this year’s awards on 27 November.
The competition seeks to provide a platform to highlight and reward creativity among DJs. It will reward the winner with GH₵10 000 ($1 700) and the runner-up with GH₵5 000.
Traditionally, the organisers handpick two performers to go against each other live on stage. This year, however, the competition will take a different format: Some 16 finalists will be selected by the judges from entries received across the country. The 16 will then battle it out during a knockout round, after which four finalists will compete for the grand prize.
How to enter
Interested participants can send a high-resolution performance video to [email protected]. The duration of the video should be between one and two minutes.
The entry deadline is 31 August at 12am GMT.
Entry rules
- This competition is open only to Ghanaian DJs residing in Ghana.
- The entry performance must be with DJ turntables or controllers. No virtual turntables or controllers are allowed.
- The finalists will be selected based on creativity, flair and confidence.
Nominations for the ninth Ghana DJ Awards will open on 30 August. The organisers are seeking nominations for DJs who have achieved significant accomplishments between October 2020 and September 2021. The nominees for this year’s awards will be unveiled in October.
