Call for proposals: Minus20degree residency programme in Austria
13 Jul 2021 - 11:50
Minus20degree in Austria is accepting proposals from artists in the fields of sound art, video art, performance, theatre, installation, or dynamic land art ahead of its exhibition in Flachau, from 20 to 22 January.
The call is designed for art that is controversial, provocative, but founded. Minus20degree will give artists the following support:
- Artist fee: €1 000 (about $1 180).
- Production budget: €1 600.
- Travel budget: €400.
- Up to six nights of accommodation (arrangements for longer stays can be made).
- Support from the team throughout 2022.
- Applicants are welcome to apply/bring additional funding from other sources to support their proposal.
How to apply
Applications are open to individuals, pairs or groups at any stage of their career. Applicants must be over 18 years. Applicants should send the following in a single pdf to [email protected] before 14 July.
- A written proposal clearly and concisely describing the project they wish to produce, the ideas behind it and how the budget will be spent (maximum two pages).
- Visualisations and a technical explanation of the intervention/artwork (maximum two pages).
- Contact details including name, phone number and website address.
Note: Proposals that do not meet the above criteria will not be considered. Proposals must be original projects developed for Minus20degree.
Location
All sites will be outside and exposed to the elements. Temperatures might be as low as minus 20 degrees, with possibilities of raining. Therefore, all artworks must be water and temperature resistant and the amount of snow cannot be predicted.
“We are especially interested in long range art forms, art that takes and needs space, art that is mobile or makes the audience move,” reads a statement. “We also look forward receiving proposals for dynamic sound and videoart that embraces the snowy landscape as endless projection surface.”
