Call for registration: Arts Incubator Programme in Limpopo

Bounteous Events will host theatre shows for communities in Limpopo’s villages from 15 to 30 January. The incubation programme is only designed for arts practitioners in the Limpopo province from all arts disciplines.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of people will be allowed at the venues.

The Arts Incubator Programme seeks to:

• Empower Limpopo artists with arts management skills.
• Empower Limpopo artists with production management skills.
• Encourage ethics of collaborations within the arts.
• Develop Limpopo rural communities.

The programme commenced in April 2021 with workshops on arts projects and production management. The artists who attended the 2021 workshops are now entering the last two phases (creation of new work and performance) of project management.

The shows and performances will be scheduled as follows:

• Sekhukhune District – 15 to 22 January.
• Capricorn District – 20 January.
• Waterberg District – 22 January.
• Vhembe District – 29 January.
• Shirley Worshipping Centre – 30 January.

The shows will feature a cast of professional performers and developing artists who will employ all the spoken languages in Limpopo including Sepedi, Ndebele, Tsonga, Tshivenda and Setswana. They will address issues such as gender-based violence in communities and promoting the importance of segagešu (my culture). The shows will feature well-known Limpopo community veterans and upcoming artists from all performing arts disciplines.
