About MPAKE
MPAKE is a registered CMO that represents artists, authors, composers and music publishers in Kenya. The organisation was licensed to collect royalties on behalf of creators from March 2017 to February 2018.
On 13 July, the high court in Kakamega nullified MPAKE’s license to collect and distribute royalties on behalf of copyright holders. It declared that KECOBO’s process of issuing MPAKE with a licence was invalid.
On 20 September, MPAKE took part in a Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) vetting process regarding licences for 2019.
