Call for submissions: Ghana DJ Awards 2022
Submissions are currently ongoing for the 2022 Ghana DJ Awards which are slated for November in Accra.
Now in its 10th year, the scheme, organised by Merqury Republic, aims to spotlight and celebrate DJs for their contribution to the development of the Ghana music industry while promoting Ghanaian culture through music.
This year’s Ghana DJ Awards will award artistic efforts from September 2021 to September 2022. Last year’s edition saw DJ Vyrusky picking up the coveted DJ of the Year trophy for the fourth time after collecting it in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
Nominations can be filed here. The deadline for entries is 6 September.
After submission, the entries are screened for eligibility and category placement before a jury oversees the nomination process that determines a maximum of six finalists in each category.
A percentage of the final voting process goes to the scheme’s voting academy and the general public who will determine the winners after an audit by a professional firm.
Note: The Ghana DJ Awards are seeking as much information as possible including links, videos and other references, and are asking those sending nominations to offer a contact name and email or contact of the person being nominated.
Meanwhile, the awards are inviting entries for the Greatest Playlist Contest, open to emerging Ghanaian DJ and offering the winner a performance slot at the 2022 edition of the awards.
To participate, interested DJs must record a video mentioning five dance-ready tunes to get a party going. After that they must post it on Twitter or Instagram, tagging @GhanaDJAwards and @JoyEntertainment, and using the hashtag #GhanaDJAwardsGPC.
The deadline for entries to the competition is 9 September.
