Call for submissions: Tertiary Music Awards Ghana

The ceremony is organised by Tertiary Music Awards Ghana Limited and aims to recognise outstanding musical talent in tertiary institutions across the country.

Speaking at the launch in Accra last week, Tertiary Music Awards Ghana CEO and project lead Duke Odamtten-Sowah said the initiative would generate awareness around budding musicians in higher institutions of learning such as colleges, polytechnics and universities. He added that the awards would stress the importance of aspiring musicians to attain tertiary-level education in addition to the pursuit of music as a career.

The launch, which was attended by key industry stakeholders, also saw the unveiling of members of the awards’ academy, who include TV presenter Cwesi Oteng Desmond, TV producer and artist manager Philip Nelson, Y FM Ghana on-air personality Johnny Stone, DJ Kobo and event organiser Prince Kofi Yeboah. The rest are Live Xtra’s Kingsford Sagoe, BBNZ Live operations manager Kwame Dzidula Adetsi and All Nations University general secretary Agnes Armah.

Successful nominees will compete in 29 voting categories including Tertiary Artist of the Year, Tertiary Song of the Year, Tertiary DJ of the Year, Tertiary Music Video of the Year, Tertiary Music Group of the Year, Tertiary Rapper of the Year and African Tertiary Artist of the Year, among others.

Honorary awards will also be presented to distinguished individuals who have played central roles in providing platforms to facilitate the careers of student musicians in tertiary institutions over the years.
