Call for trainers: Music Management & technical production course in Mozambique

We are building a strong team of trainers to collectively deliver the programme in two cities (Maputo and Beira). Each module will be delivered over three days with a class of about 15 – 30 students (independent musicians, producers, music managers, entrepreneurs etc). Specific objectives for the two modules are provided below to help you prepare your application:

Module 1: Music Management & Entrepreneurship: This module recognises music management as a critical skill and should equip participants with essential music management and entrepreneurship knowledge and skills, covering areas such as the fundamentals of music management, music business and entrepreneurship.

Module 2: Technical Skills Training: This module should equip participants with essential technical skills, for example in areas such as sound engineering, music production, audio recording, mixing, mastering techniques, etc.

NB: We are not expecting one trainer to cover all the above so in your application provide a realistic training plan for the applicable module with sub topics that you can realistically implement over a three-day period. Each class will have 15 – 30 participants. The number of students for each class will be adjusted in consultation with the trainers.

Key responsibilities

• In consultation with the MIAF, develop a three-day training course in one or several areas as outlined above. The proposed training must:
  • Include strong theoretical and practical components.
  • Be realistic and offer the best possible upskilling opportunity to the participants.
• Prepare all requirements for the training to run smoothly, including content, visual aids and other teaching material.
• Attend preparatory meetings with the MIAF and partners.
• Implement and conduct the training in Portuguese or English.
• Where possible, travel to the training locations.
• Provide a post training report with a view to help in the evaluation of the success and relevance of the programme.
• Facilitate other aspects as needed.

Skills and requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the proposed training field.
• Solid track record in the related field
• Experience as a trainer or facilitator.
• Excellent communication skills in Portuguese or English. Both will be advantageous.
• The trainer must be willing and able to collaborate with other guest trainers or facilitators.
