Cape Town to host 5th SACO International Conference in November
10 Sep 2025 - 08:50
The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO), in partnership with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), will host the fifth edition of its international conference in Cape Town on 4 and 5 November 2025.
The conference will focus on the future of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) against the backdrop of rapid technological and societal change. According to the organisers, the event will provide a platform for researchers, practitioners and policymakers to engage on emerging trends and challenges in the sector.
Abstract submissions for the conference are currently under review, with some applicants having already received feedback. Organisers said all remaining responses would be communicated by the end of this week. Accepted applicants will also be contacted by telephone to ensure notifications are not missed.
Registration for the event is open to participants who did not submit abstracts. An early bird registration option is available via the SACO website.
The SACO International Conference is held biennially and is regarded as one of the key gatherings for cultural and creative economy stakeholders in South Africa and beyond.
