South African beer brand Castle Lite will on 15 April premier a live broadcast of online music performances aimed at funding the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Titled 'Castle Lite Unlocks in Bed With', the 30-minute concert will be broadcast on Castle Lite SA's YouTube channel at 7.30pm.
It will be hosted by US media personality Sway Calloway and feature performances from local rappers Nasty C and Moozlie as well Cape Town-based electronic act The Kiffness.
“We want to continue contributing to this genre’s already massive footprint by bringing it all home; the same epic experience Castle Lite Unlocks is known for, on a different scale, in your home,” Castle Lite brand director Silke Bucker said.
“This bold new move will also allow Castle Lite to continue to make a bigger contribution to African hip hop. We are excited to be venturing into new territory as we establish a digital entertainment platform to satisfy your need for entertainment during the extended lockdown period.”
Castle Lite said it would donate R1 for every view to the Solidarity Response fund. It said the event would seek to encourage people to practice their “civic duty and stay home during this tumultuous time."
"Nasty C will give fans a never seen before performance from his home studio and might even surprise fans with a special guest star during his performance,” Castle Lite said.
