CKay features Davido, Focalistic and Abidoza on new single Watawi
17 Jun 2022 - 08:28
The song follows the success of CKay’s ‘Emiliana’ and ‘Nwantiti’. ‘Watawi’ is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms. CKay wrote and co-composed the song with Abidoza, who also produced it.
In the song, Abidoza adds his touch on the beats, while Davido tunes in with his effortless flow. Focalistic spares 18 bars of Sepitori rap – a lingua franca that blends various languages popular in the townships of Pretoria. CKay’s vocals and signature-layered harmonies drive the song on a catchy singalong, which complements the soulful amapiano production.
Lyrically, the song covers a common topic in modern relationships, with CKay, Davido and Focalistic making it clear to their respective ladies that no labels are required for who they are.
“A lot of people have been in tricky situations when their situationship attempts to push things further than it needs to be,” CKay said. “Sometimes it’s best to let things be and just vibe without the pressure of defining the nature of the relationship.”
