The Market for African Performing Arts (MASA) has announced a list of the artists to take part in this year’s event in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 7 to 10 March.
This after MASA received 187 applications from musicians in African countries including South Africa, Mali, Gabon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Tanzania. There were also applications from countries such as Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Colombia.
74 groups were selected to take part, with 13 of them coming from the host country. The groups were selected according to categories: music (48 groups), dance (7), theatre (10), Storytelling (4), stand-up comedy, street arts (2) and slam (1).
The 25th anniversary of MASA coincides with the 10th edition of the event, which began in 1993.
