Davido, Olamide, others to perform at Soundcity MVP Awards

Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth (real name Bright Okpocha) will host the event that will feature a line-up of artists from across the continent. Davido, Patoranking, Olamide, Kiss Daniel and Tekno have been confirmed and others will be announced in the days leading to the awards festival.

The Soundcity MVP awards is organised by the music channel Soundcity TV. The award aims to "recognize artistes every year by staging a world-class event that will crown the hardest working talents on the continent." And it hopes "the recognition will further give them better exposure, where they can enjoy eventual & continuous global success."

Nominations for the 2016 awards are led by Wizkid, who has eight nods including Best Song for 'Baba Nla', Best Video, Viewers' Choice and Listeners' Choice. Olamide is a close second with six. South Africa's Emtee also has a good run, earning five nods in categories including Best Male Artist and Song of the Year for 'Roll Up'.
