Davido to play first Liberian concert
Nigerian pop act Davido will perform at the SKD Sports Complex be in Liberia on 29 November.
The event will also feature performances from, among other Liberian acts, Kobazzie, Christoph, Stunna and DenG.
Already the Liberian media has stoked anticipation for the concert, the Observer writing that the event "would give fans an opportunity to see Davido live, an opportunity that might come once in a lifetime. It is not just about seeing the artist but having the opportunity to take red carpet photos with him as he thrills you with a mesmerizing three-hour non-stop performance."
Davido will be bringing artists on his DMW record label to the concert, which is his first in the West African country. These acts include Peruzzi and Mayorkun, whose debut album is set for release later this month.
"Finally, I will be coming to Liberia," Davido said in a promotional video, adding that he has "wanted to come to Liberia for a long time and I am happy I am coming through."
The event is one of a series of events in a busy period for the Afropop star. A Nairobi, Kenya concert scheduled for the end of October was cancelled.
"Nairobi, I can’t be with you guys tonight," he tweeted. "Flight issues out of my control, we tried to find a solution but no luck. A new date will be announced soon." In January, he would perform at the O2 arena in the UK. In between, Davido has had the also collaborated with his compatriot Kizz Daniel on the song 'One Ticket'.
"For the first time ever! Liberia, OBO [Davido's nickname] is finally coming!! We not making November lazy! I’m in the building Thursday 29 November, SKD Stadium! Calling all the big jue dem. Yea naaa! Yea naaa!"
Ticket prices for the Davido Live in Liberia concert range from US$5 to VVIP tickets worth $100.
