Deezer launches music-sharing tool on Facebook Stories

The new tool is available globally for users with a Deezer and Facebook account.

The feature lets users preview 30 seconds of any song from Stories. Listeners can send songs, artists, albums, playlists or podcasts, and each story can be customised by adding stickers, text, filters and emojis.

Users need the Deezer and the Facebook app installed on their mobile devices to use the tool. Paying subscribers can get immediate access to the shared tracks by clicking on the Deezer logo at the top left-hand corner in Stories. Free users will get an extended sample of 30 seconds and the option to launch a mix related to the track and the artist.

“Music sharing plays a big role in helping us discover new tunes and connect with our friends,” Deezer chief product and technology officer Matthieu Gorvan said. “Our integration with Facebook Stories lets Deezer fans share what's on their minds through their favourite artist or track.”

The tool could benefit many users. More than 90% of people on social media reportedly engage in music or artist-related content.

The tool comes on the heels of Deezer’s recently launched Flow Moods playlists, which offer tailored music according to the listener’s emotions. They build on the platform’s unique feature Flow, which provides an infinite mix of new tracks.

Flow Moods uses data, algorithms and suggestions from editors to create mood mixes themed around a particular emotion, including motivation, chill, romance, melancholy, focus and party moods.

“Our Flow already offers music fans a unique and truly personalised music journey,” Gorvan said. “We’re now taking our recommended music to the next level. Thanks to Flow Moods, we’re making sure that our listeners can have an emotionally connected experience that’s relevant to their daily moods and feelings.”
