DistroKid launches mobile app

The app is expected to improve the platform’s user experience for millions of music creators. Already boasting features that make it simpler for artists to access statistics from streaming services, edit metadata and receive instant payment notifications, the new app allows these functions to be carried out from a mobile device, rather than exclusively online.

The company says the app will be available on Android devices soon.

The release is the latest addition to the company’s growing list of products aimed at making music distribution more accessible, including Mixea, an AI-powered mastering tool that enhances sound quality instantly making music radio-ready, as well as DistroVid, which helps artists upload music videos to digital service providers.

“With music consumption, promotion and increasingly even music creation happening predominantly on mobile, we are meeting artists where they’re at, on their phones,” DistroKid chief product officer Nick Ogle said.

DistroKid was founded in 2013 by musician Philip Kaplan, and distributes about one-third of all new music in the world. The company is popular for its affordable rates and unlimited uploads, but more so for allowing artists to keep 100% of their earnings.
