Gambia’s ST to launch ‘Saluto’; Kizz Daniels releases ‘No Bad Songz’

The promotional singles for the album are ‘Chorrmama’, ‘Mandinka Warrior’, ‘Fuwareya’ and ‘Baddest Localo’, which was produced by Senegalese international music producer, No Face Undacova.

‘Chorrmama’ tackles certain issues in the Gambia like the country's lack of constant electricity and the failure of politicians in fulfilling promises made to the masses. 'Fuwareya’ (which means poverty) talks about poverty, low salaries and unemployment of the Gambia's youth.

He explained that his concept of the Gambia is that people can make it happen when they support each other. Speaking to local media publication The Voice Vibes, he said the album's 11 tackles social issues in the Gambia.

“I want to take it to the next level, to the Independence Stadium for the first time," he said, "because I believe Gambians we can do it if we support each other. We have the talents here if foreign artists can come here and jam-pack the stadium; why not us.”

“ST’s songs always convey powerful messages affecting society," said Modiwriter a young poet. "This is what we expect from our artists: to speaks for the people.”

Pundit Kujabi said ST sings about things that affect the everyday Gambian, little wonder everyone is able to relate, the daily struggle of the average Gambian.
“The language of the youth of today and their travails, your economic and political realities, for me, he probably is the best we've ever had, no disrespect to meant to others, He is the one musical voice that speaks for the marginalized,” he said.

Elsewhere in West Africa, Kizz Daniel has released his sophomore album. Titled No Bad Songz, the album sees the Nigerian feature his compatriot Davido, US act Diplo, South Africa's Nasty C and other acts. It was released in the early hours of 30 November and follows the well-received New Era from 2016.
