3Music Networks in Ghana has announced that 3Music TV, its new 24-hour music and lifestyle channel, will go live on Sunday 1 August.
3Media Networks was founded by creative entrepreneur Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu in 2017. It comprises various units including a broadcasting arm with 3Music TV as the fulcrum, an event and youth experiential unit responsible for the annual 3Music Awards, a creative animation and a visual production unit, and a digital content distributions arm that services the African entertainment industry with exclusive access and partnerships with a number of leading digital platforms.
The digital, free-to-air channel will target millennials and Generation Z audiences. It is expected to provide competition for other media platforms like 4Syte TV, promising a range of entertainment programmes including music shows, exclusive live events, original series, and classic video content.
“The channel brand experience will be complemented with lots of exciting off-air activities and events including the 3Music Awards, the Fan Festival, the Women’s Brunch, 3Music Presents, the WILDALAND festival, the Banana Ball WKND and other key channel events and partnerships,” 3Music TV said.
“The launch of 3Music really is something quite special,” Abu said. “It confirms our ongoing commitment to music and provides the very best in music and entertainment television. We are particularly excited about making our diverse range of music entertainment shows and live events even more accessible to our viewers.”
3Music Networks general manager Edward Owusu Boafo added that the channel would prioritise a “digital-first” agenda, with some of the station’s exclusive content accessible on social media and YouTube.
“We have been a work in progress since 2017 and can’t wait to show to the world what we have been working on. Look out for some interesting buzzworthy launch activities to celebrate the rebirth of music TV with our live launch,” he said.
