Ghana: Audiomack partners with Afrochella for Rising Star Challenge
21 Nov 2022 - 08:48
US music streaming and audio distribution platform Audiomack is partnering with Ghanaian cultural festival Afrochella for the fourth annual Rising Star Challenge.
The announcement follows a call for submissions back in August as part of efforts to increase visibility for upcoming artists across Africa.
This year, the competition will reward the winner with a $1 000 cash prize and a studio session with Accra-based BBnZ Live. The first runner-up will win a cash prize, an article spotlight feature on Audiomack World and a one-on-one personal studio session, while the second runner-up will receive a cash prize, personal mentorship with industry experts and a spotlight on Audiomack World.
The top five artists will also earn a performance slot at the Afrochella in Ghana on 28 and 29 December in Accra, with West African artists Burna Boy and Stonebwoy as the headliners.
“The partnership with Audiomack has been one that has shaped a new pipeline for rising stars in Africa,” Afrochella founder Abdul Karim Abdullah said. “The work Afrochella and Audiomack have been able to produce in the past four years has planted seeds that will make for a better music ecosystem in Africa for years to come.”
Audiomack’s director of brand and media partnerships in Africa, Charlotte Bwana, added: “It has always been our mission to push and promote African talent across the continent and the world, which is why we are excited to partner once again with Afrochella for the Rising Star Challenge. It has been exciting to see the growth of previous winners and we aim to keep providing platforms and avenues for artists to receive maximum visibility”
Submissions are still ongoing and close on 6 December.
