Ghana: Samini collaborates with Soweto Gospel Choir on new single Chaana

The track serves as the first release from his upcoming album, ORIGIN8A, which is set for release later this year. ‘Chaana’, meaning “shine,” is described as an Afro-pop anthem aimed at uplifting and inspiring Africans by reminding them of their resilience and limitless potential.

The song blends Samini’s signature style with rich African influences, incorporating the Wala dialect from Wa in Ghana’s Upper West Region, where the artist originates, along with Swahili elements contributed by the Soweto Gospel Choir. This linguistic and cultural fusion is said to create a distinctly pan-African sound that embodies themes of unity and progress.

Produced by Francis Osei, ‘Chaana’ features a vibrant, mid-tempo rhythm that aligns with its empowering message. The music video, directed by Yaw Skyface and filmed in South Africa, is reported to showcase breath-taking landscapes and symbolic imagery that reinforce the song’s celebration of African excellence.
