Ghana: TiTi Owusu inks deal with Sony Music Publishing
Ghanaian singer TiTi Owusu has secured a deal with Sony Music Publishing (SMP).
“I’m elated by this new milestone. This is a sign that I’m on the right path, and there are bigger achievements ahead of me,” TiTi Owusu, who is signed to UK-based talent management company Skillions Global, said.
The move, expected to amplify her reach, follows the release of her single ‘Make Me Believe (Nana)’.
“We are excited as we embark on this incredible journey with TiTi,” SMP Nigeria managing director Godwin Tom said. “Her talent as a songwriter is extraordinary, and we can’t wait to collaborate with her and create exceptional work together.
“TiTi possesses a rare ability to adapt her unique personality to any room or genre, making her a standout artist. We are huge fans of her talent and are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to TiTi as part of the Sony Music Publishing family!”
TiTi Owusu garnered mainstream attention in Ghana after she participated in the nationwide competition Vodafone Icons. She released her debut single ‘Karma’ in 2019, followed by the Moelogo-assisted ‘Pray For Me’ in 2020. Her sound is a fusion of genres like R&B, hip hop, Afropop, reggae and highlife.
SMP announced last year that it was launching operations in Lagos, Nigeria, as part of its expansion efforts across Africa. Speaking in a recent interview with Music Business Worldwide’s World Leaders series, SMP head of A&R for Africa Wale ‘Tec’ Davies revealed that the company’s aspirations for Africa revolve around dedicated support and education for their artists.
“By building strong foundations for our songwriting community locally, we can provide them with an elevated level of creative support,” he said. “We are also focusing on global collaboration opportunities to help give SMP Africa songwriters a seat at the international table.”
