Ghanaian music heads to New York expo

Part of the expo’s plan is to bring prospective investors into considering Ghana a viable place to set up business concerns—to find resource and to find profit. Thus the expo is being organised by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Bongo Traditional Fashion Association.

Stephen Normeshie, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the export authority, noted at the launch of t the expo, which held last month, that the partnership between both establishments was arranged in order that GEPA’s mandate to develop and promote the export of Ghanaian products and services.

“Ghana’s historically close trade relations with the US,” he said, “coupled with favourable preferential market access opportunities, such as the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), GEPA was continuously working towards consolidating Ghana’s gains and position in the mark.”

GEPA, he continued, “had put in place rigorous selection criteria to ensure that only the best companies and products were admitted to the show and urged interested exhibitors to cooperate with the team.”

The expo follows last year’s concert by rapper Sarkodie in taking Ghanaian music and the country’s broader culture to the United States.
