The Ghanaian singer Wiyaala will in a few weeks play concerts in Europe and in the US.
Nicknamed 'the Young Lioness of Africa', Wiyaala has been on tour over the last few months and has made an appearance at the WOMAD International Arts Festival in July. In that time, she has also put out some new music.
Now she has announced date for forthcoming appearances onstage in the UK, Germany and the US.
Kicking off her list of upcoming performances is the prestigious Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London on 24 August.
Thereafter, Wiyaala will appear at the launch of the Ghana Music Week in London as well.
It will then be Germany’s turn to host the singer on 26 August at the Afrika Festival taking place in Hamburg.
After playing several concerts in Europe, Wiyaala will return in September for the Legends of Africa event, before playing with her compatriot Rocky Dawuni in Los Angeles, USA.
Born Noella Wiyaala, the All Africa Music Award winner sings in English and in Sissala and Waale. Wiyaala has been in the spotlight since winning a talent show as member of a group called Black N Peach. She’s currently brand ambassador for a number of agencies. Wiyaala is known as an advocate for gender equality. In July, she spoke to the BBC about child marriage and issues within the Ghana music industry. “I can use my music to throw light on these things. And use myself as example,” she said.
