Joe Thomas joins Brandy at SA’s MACUFE

Brandy will play two events: The Divas Festival and The Main Festival on 12 and 13 October respectively.

Thomas will perform on 11 October and share the stage with Selaelo Selota (South Africa), PDA Band (South Africa), Xolisile Nosenga (South Africa) and South Africa-based Nigerian guitarist Kunle Ayo. The ‘I Wanna Know’ singer is expected to entertain fans with songs from albums such as My Name Is Joe, Signature, Bridges and others.

Thomas will also be in Zambia where he will perform alongside Brian McKnight at the Stanbic Music Festival at Lusaka Polo Club on 5 and 6 October.

“We have spent months curating what’s on offer at MACUFE,” festival director Mario Sefo said. “We obsess with quality and seek out just what South Africans love and enjoy. You’d agree that this line-up is premium entertainment, not only from the Free State [province] and the country but the continent and the world. We look forward to seeing revellers from all over the world descend on Mangaung for yet another memorable MACUFE.”

Sefo warned festivalgoers against false advertising for accommodation in the city of Bloemfontein. “The festival does not deal with accommodation and guests are urged to be vigilant when booking or arranging for accommodation,” he said.

MACUFE's organisers have also released the names of artists who will feature at the festival’s Tshepe Hip Hop Concert on 5 October. Emtee, Sjava, Nadia Nakai, Nasty C, A Reece and Beast will headline the concert. The province will be represented by Frog, Mokash Dmera, Castino and Thwenny Thwenny.

On 7 October, Lebo Sekgobela, Benjamin Dube, Neyi Zimu, Women in Praise and Andiswa will lead the MACUFE Gospel Concert at Old Grey’s Events Centre. They will share the stage with Bloemfontein’s Dynamic Life Worshippers, Teboho, Thabo Lebeko, Thoko Nogabe, Keorapetse and Tshepiso Mpotle.

Meanwhile, artists who will play the main event on 13 October include headliner Brandy (US), Joe Thomas (US), Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Nasty C (South Africa), Amanda Black (South Africa), Benjamin Dube (South Africa), Zonke (South Africa), Presss (South Africa) and Prince KB (South Africa).
