With August celebrated as Women’s Month in South Africa, singer Simphiwe Dana returns to Kaya FM’s popular series 'Live @ The Bassline' on Saturday 6 August at the Bassline in Johannesburg.
The event has been on a break and this will be the second time the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) winning singer performs live at one of her favourite venues, followiong her 10-year anniversary performance in April 2015.
As an artist who employs a proudly African identity in her music, the outspoken ‘Ndiredi’ hitmaker has long played an integral voice in spearheading issues of interest within the social sphere. With August being Women’s Month as well as Kaya FM’s 19th birthday, she is a suitable pick to perform at the popular event.
With a string of acclaimed albums and live DVDs, having her back on the Bassline stage is a treat, especially following her recent release of her live album, Celebrating Ten Years Live at the Bassline. Her fans will get the chance to see her perform songs from her critically acclaimed fourth studio album titled Firebrand and other tracks from her previous projects, including Kulture Noir.
If the first 'Live @ The Bassline' series was anything to go by, the second will certainly pack a musical punch. Kaya FM and Bassline have proved that music is a universal language and providing such platforms for live music is part of growing both established and new talent.
With Bassline celebrating 22 years in music sector this year, it is committed a always to ensure safe parking and security, as well as reasonable ticket pricing, while bringing the best in music to the public.
Tickets are R150 from Webtickets. For more information about this event, please contact Tankiso Makhene at [email protected]
