Kenya: Blankets and Wine unveils line-up for June 2025 edition

The event, set for 29 June at Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre, also marks the festival’s 16th anniversary, commemorating over a decade of spotlighting Africa’s finest musical voices.

On the Main Stage, festivalgoers can look forward to South African soulful house legends Mi Casa, known for their chart-topping collaborations like ‘Jika’ and ‘Tulale Fofofo’ with Sauti Sol. Kenya’s own stars Matata and Ssaru will deliver an electrifying fusion of gengetone, Afrobeats, and choreography, while Serro brings her powerful vocals and a modern twist on Kenyan folk music.

Rising local acts Shad Mziki and We Are Nubia will showcase soulful pop and smooth Afropop-R&B respectively. East Africa’s sonic heritage will also be represented by Tanzania’s Saida Karoli, offering a blend of taarab, bongo flava and traditional Tanzanian rhythms, alongside Uganda’s Joshua Baraka, famed for his infectious dancehall sound.

The Onja Onja Stage caters to fans of edgy, electronic African music. Attendees can expect performances from Akoth Jumadi & Mr Lu, Coco Kahi, and DJs IV and Bune, as well as an electrifying back-to-back-to-back set from Ghedi x Hiribae x Paps, and genre-pushing beats by DJ Ite.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the 2025 season with such a phenomenal line-up,” festival founder Muthoni Drummer Queen said ahead of the event. “This edition features 17 top-tier African artists across two stages. We’ve curated every detail – music, food, craft, and family-friendly experiences – to deliver unmatched value for our community. This year, our mission is simple: bring Africa to Kenya, and take Kenya to the world.”

Blankets & Wine prides itself on being more than just a music event. The Family Zone offers a safe, engaging space for children, while parents enjoy performances. The Onja Onja Market transforms the festival into a cultural village, showcasing Kenyan cuisine, fashion, crafts, and artisanal products.

In a major milestone, the festival will expand internationally with its first-ever UK show on 6 September 2025 at Lister Park, Bradford City, in partnership with the British Council as part of the UK/Kenya Season 2025.

With a legacy of championing African creativity for 16 years, Blankets & Wine continues to evolve as a must-attend celebration of the continent’s music, culture, and lifestyle.
