Kenyan artist Chimano has released a new single titled ‘Monster’ alongside its music video. The track is available for streaming and download on all major platforms.
The feel-good Afro-house/dance song, which was co-written by Chimano and DTX, who also did the production work, delves into the essence of true nature, hidden behind the façade as people maintain appearances.
‘Monster’ is a powerful narrative about recognising your self-worth and finding the courage to stand up for yourself. The song’s vocals are simultaneously melancholic and haunting, yet they maintain an uplifting energy that drives the message of empowerment and resilience.
Ahead of the release, Chimano said: “This is my third and last single this year but if anything, it should give an indication of the direction I’m heading musically. ‘Monster’ is more than just a song; it’s a bold declaration of independence and self-respect.”
In the new video, the celebrated style icon captivates with his signature eccentric fashion sense flanked by feisty dancers. The smooth, dynamic choreography dominates the singular scene inviting the audience to connect visually and emotionally with the track’s theme. Once again, the music video showcases Chimano’s ability to deliver groovy music that both moves and inspires.
From experimental sounds to truthfulness in writing, Chimano’s 2024 singles – ‘Fashion’, ‘Do You Remember’, and ‘Monster’ – showcase a fun yet intricate character on an incredible journey of self-discovery and reinvention from previous music towards a new sound and expression. His releases showcase his passion for music and the artistry he possesses, culminating in an upcoming full body of work that will capture his creative growth and evolution.
Best known as a member of the high-flying Kenyan music group Sauti Sol, Chimano recently embarked on a solo career with refreshing music in tow.
The multi-faceted artist and fashion icon is also a creative director with a keen eye and vision for creating mind-blowing productions and concepts, be it in editorial photography, film, fashion or music videos. Whether in fashion, music or art, individuality and identity are at the centre of Chimano’s expression.
