Kenyan artist Nassizu calls out Alikiba for empty promise

While on the show, Nassizu revealed that Alikiba’s music made him fall in love with bongo flava. During the interview, Alikiba promised to work with Nassizu on a collaboration. However, almost two years later, the artists haven’t hit the studio yet.

In the song, Nassizu narrates how he met Alikiba on the Churchill Show and reminds the Tanzanian artist of his promise. He talks about efforts he’s made trying to get in touch with Alikiba who instead of meeting him halfway keeps telling him to wait.

‘Ata baadaye nikipiga majibu ni yale yale ngoja baadaye/ Nassizu sina pesa / Ila imefika kipindi namuuliza unataka ngapi' (Even when I call later the response is still the same / Nassizu, I don’t have money / It’s reached a point where I am asking him how much he needs).

When Alikiba told him that the issue was money, Nassizu asked him how much it would take to do the song, but the query was met with a vague response.

Nassizu sings that after a lot of contemplation he’s thinking of letting it go so that they don’t end up at loggerheads.

In the track he calls out a few Kenyan politicians who also made empty promises. They had assured him that they wold help him advance his music career but, when he shows up at their offices, they either ask him to leave a letter or they are not in. And when they respond, the message is still the same: wait.
