Linda Sikhakhane announces South Africa, US tour for fifth album

The tour will open in Johannesburg on 1 October before moving to Cape Town on 3 October and Durban on 4 October. Sikhakhane will then perform in Boston, Philadelphia and New York between 27 and 31 October.

Produced by Nduduzo Makhathini, LINDA explores themes including purpose, belonging, love, lineage and spirituality. The album takes its title from Sikhakhane’s name and the meaning of “patience”, with the project centred on the idea of allowing things to develop in their own time.

The album features contributions from Omagugu, Zuluboy, Phila Dlozi, Ovuyonke and Thabo Sikhakhane, alongside Sikhakhane’s core band.

Musically, the record draws on South African jazz while incorporating elements of hip-hop, Mzansi neo-soul and amapiano. It also reflects Sikhakhane’s interest in heritage, spirituality and personal identity.

Speaking about the album and tour, Sikhakhane said: “LINDA began with a question to self: what is my purpose in this lifetime? This music carries my name, and with it the meaning of patience – a reminder to trust the path and allow everything to come together in its own time. Taking this album from South Africa to the United States is a continuation of that conversation.”

The tour will begin at Untitled Basement in Johannesburg, followed by Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town and The Chairman in Durban. In the US, Sikhakhane is scheduled to perform at City Winery in Boston, Ars Nova in Philadelphia, and One Flight Up and The Django in New York.

Sikhakhane, who is from Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, studied jazz and popular music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and began learning the saxophone at the Siyakhula Music Centre.

His previous project, iLadi, won Best Jazz Album at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards.
