Listen to Muziki Beatz EP

Muziki Beatz is the first of two compilation releases, the second of which, titled Muziki Electronica, will be released on 18 November. The project showcases independent African musicians and bands and is designed to introduce their music to Africa and the world.

The release of Muziki Beatz follows an open call where music makers in Africa were invited to submit their best unreleased tracks for a chance to record and publish their latest single with PSS.

Out of 750 applicants, only eight artists were chosen as finalists. They are Sage, Reba Red, Elinamandla, Djy Spetla, EL-Tan, Fruit Vendor, Kd Summerz and Nthabee.

The two top winners, Fruit Vendor and Kd Summerz, spent a day recording a collaborative track titled ‘Believe It’ at Cape Town’s Cosher Recording Studios. The song leads off the new five-track compilation.

“The calibre of the competition was demonstrated by the entries we received,” FAME Week Africa content and creative director for Muziki Africa, Martin Hiller, said. “Muziki Africa is excited for the launch of the Sounds of Muziki 2022 Compilation EP and we are committed to developing talent on the African continent.”
