South African rapper and R&B artist Ricky Tyler has released a new single featuring Nigeria's Alpha P.
‘Peachnut’ is the third single off Ricky Tyler’s upcoming debut album Small World, which is set for release on 17 July. The 14-track album also features M.I Abaga, KLY and Harvey.
“The single retells a scenario I’ve personally gone through: I thought I had a mutual connection with someone only to find that the next day they acted like a complete stranger,” Ricky said.
The collaboration with Alpha P with could be the Def Jam Africa signee's stepping stone to Nigerian fans.
“Collaborations are great because they expose you to a different market and fans who either don’t know you or aren’t familiar with you," Ricky Tyler told Music In Africa during a recent interview.
The musician kick-started his career in 2016 with the release of ‘Swerve’, an trap-inspired track the caught the attention of US-born, SA-based rapper Tshego, who remixed it. That same year, Ricky Tyler dropped the catchy single ‘Breathing’. He credits such artists as Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Drake, Kanye West and Jay-Z as inspirations.
