The Voice SA 2019 contestant Khokho Madlala has released her debut single titled ‘Ngiletheni’.
The song is sung in Zulu and was written and arranged by Madlala. It was co-produced by Madlala and Master Clap from Kalawa Jazmee Records. It is available for streaming and download here.
“What inspired the title of the song is a point in everyone's life where you feel stagnant and having no control over life's hindrances to achieve your goals,” the Durban-based Madlala told Music In Africa.
“I came to a point where I questioned what my purpose on Earth was, because the one I believed was not getting anywhere close to what I envisioned. Roadblocks were everywhere so I opted to ask God what I had brought on Earth?
“The message of the song is about the signs, warnings and visions of the future, even if it's just for a minute for us to see if the path we're walking is worth it. Many people say to their parents, 'If I only I knew, then I would have taken a different route.'”
Madlala, who is signed to Universal Music South Africa, said the song was not in celebration of anything in particular.
“I am introspecting the voice within and searching for a triumph over life's difficulties. It is more like a coping mechanism through hard times, and a personal therapist that I don't pay for,” she said.
