Malawian singer Maskal has returned to the music industry with the single Maria.
The song features GD,one half the duo Daredevil, and comes after two years of Maskal’s absence from recording. The Afro-R&B act has said that he is working on an album due for release later in the year.
“I don't really have a reason for my silence,” he said about his disappearance. “I just wanted a break, and stay out of the scene that's all. I am all back now.”
Maria deals with the emotional trauma that has suffered from emotional trauma. “The song is more of a positive vibe towards all the women out there who have been or are in such situations,” said Maskal.
Maskal has been recording music since 2006, and has released the albums, ‘Nthabwi’ and ‘Umuthu’. He received the 2011 Best Male Vocalist at the Malawian awards.
Speaking about his return, Maskal said he needs to adjust because “it's been long since I have been active in the industry, so it's going to be a process to get hype and everything back.”
