Music In Africa partners with Sauti za Busara as official EPK platform

The next edition of Sauti za Busara takes place in Stone Town, Zanzibar, from 13 to 16 February 2020, and a call for applications to play at the festival has already been published by the organisers.

The MIAF-Sauti za Busara partnership gives solo artists and bands across Africa the opportunity to create a professional music profile via the www.musicinafrica.net platform free of charge. Artists can then add their biographies and photos, and synchronise their YouTube, Deezer and SoundCloud channels to their Music In Africa profile for an aggregated user experience. As an added perk, profiles will receive editorial support from the Music In Africa team to guarantee best quality.

Music In Africa is a leading information and exchange portal that currently boasts more than 20 000 industry profiles, including artists, festivals, venues, booking agents, producers and recording studios, among others. The online portal acts as an effective meeting place where industry players can network through social media functionalities such as instant messaging to find new opportunities. The portal also features a newsfeed where artists can share the latest news with their followers.

Music In Africa profiles are not obligatory when applying for Sauti za Busara 2020, but the organisers say that artists' chances to play at the festival could be markedly improved with the submission of a Music In Africa EPK.

“Our main aim with Sauti za Busara festival is to widen appreciation for local and international music uniquely connected to Africa," festival director Yusuf Mahmoud said. "Each year, we typically receive more than 500 applications for the 40 performance slots available. We are therefore delighted this year to partner with Music in Africa, which will increase the visibility of all the musicians who apply for the festival. Like the best partnerships, this means a win-win for all participants, even artists who don’t make it through the final selection process for Sauti za Busara 2020.”
