Musicians make 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians 2021 list

The musicians include Amaarae, Gyakie, Eno Barony, Black Sherif and Fameye, as well as KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Medikal and Stonebwoy, who have appeared on the list before.

Now in its seventh year, the annual list is compiled by public relations and rating firm Avance Media, and spotlights Ghanaians below 35 years old who have made notable achievements across various sectors including entertainment, sports, leadership, media, social entrepreneurship and business.

Music entrepreneur and 3Media Networks CEO Sadiq Abdulai Abu was also made the list for his contribution to the arts and entertainment space.

Avance Media managing director Prince Akpah told Music In Africa that the criteria for selection included excellence in leadership and performance, personal accomplishment, commitment to sharing knowledge, and breaking the status quo as a Ghanaian and an African.

“Young Ghanaian musicians and entertainers have contributed greatly to putting the country on the map and have influenced a lot of young people to stay committed to their dreams,” he said. “This is shown in the several accomplishments of Ghanaians artists on the international front in showbiz.”

Avance Media said the stories of the individuals in this year’s list were worth emulating by young Ghanaians passionate about contributing to Ghana’s development and image.

Other musicians that have appeared on the list include Sarkodie, Becca, Kofi Kinaata, Shatta Wale, Kwesi Arthur and Joe Mettle.

The list follows Avance Media’s 2021 100 Most Influential Young Africans list, which featured Afropop stars Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Joeboy, Zuchu and KiDi, as well as amapiano giants Focalistic and Kabza de Small.
