Nandov to represent Maputo at Festival Crossroads contest
09 Nov 2015 - 16:21
The Festival Crossroads took place on Sunday 1 November 2015 at FEIMA in Maputo, Mozambique. It was the provincial phase of annual Festival Crossroads competition. Four talented bands competed for the opportunity to represent Maputo province in the national phase of the festival: Nandov Band, Hodi, Ulongo Male and Magoche.
The jury for the festival was composed of João Cabral, Ivan Manhique and Timóteo Cuche.
The competing bands were all skillful and energetic, qualities that were appreciated by both the audience and the jury, but which made the decision to choose a winner all more difficult.
In the end, the Nandov Band won this leg of the competition and will be representing Maputo province in the national final of the Festival Crossroads in Mozambique. Two members of the winning band are students at the Music Crossroads Academy Mozambique.
Also performing on the day were a band from the Desafio Total programme and the dance group Tofo Tofinho. The content took place on the same day as the Africa Youth Day, so there was plenty of goods times and good times to be had. All in all it was a great day to celebrate youth, music and culture.
