Nigeria: Adekunle Gold releases Catch Me If You Can album
Nigerian musician Adekunle Gold has released his fourth album Catch Me If You Can. The 14-track offering is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
Symbolising the space that Adekunle Gold sees himself in life, Catch Me If You Can encapsulates his musical interpretation of freedom, clarity and confidence. The album centres on the importance of growth, shedding expectations from others and throwing oneself into the unknown. It comes after the release of his ‘Mercy’ single last week.
With collaborations including Davido (Nigeria), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali/France), Ty Dolla $ign (US), Stefflon Don (UK), Lucky Daye (US) and Foushee (US), the album solidifies Adekunle Gold’s place on the music scene while furthering the evolution of his sound, songwriting and production.
“I think of my whole discography as an adventure game,” Adekunle Gold said. “It gets really interesting at every level. This new album is Level 4 of the game. It’s crazy, it’s mind-blowing, and my understanding of life, what really matters and who I am, is slowly unravelling.”
Adekunle Gold is among the leading pioneers of Afropop and remains one of the most popular artists to come out of Nigeria and Africa. His previous albums include Gold (2016), About 30 (2018) and Afro Pop Vol. 1 (2020).
