Nigeria: Asake’s M$NEY concert film released exclusively on Spotify

The performance marks Asake’s first live presentation of his chart-topping album M$NEY since its release in May and includes four previously unreleased tracks. It is also Spotify's first full-length live album performance film.

Nearly 2 000 invited guests attended the one-night performance, which featured a live orchestra, a 40-member choir and the live band The Compozers. The event was held under a black-tie dress code and marked the first time an Afrobeats artist has headlined the historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

The film, titled Asake - M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live), is accompanied by an audio-only live album under the same title. Both the film and associated video content are exclusive to Spotify at launch.

The release follows a series of live performance films made available by Spotify, including performances by Bad Bunny in Tokyo, Olivia Rodrigo in Barcelona and Skye Newman in London. Spotify also hosted a premiere screening of Asake’s film at its recently opened Listening Lounge in central London.

Reflecting on the performance, Asake said it represented the themes at the heart of M$NEY, including gratitude, personal growth, spirituality and ambition.

“This performance was a reflection of everything M$NEY represents – gratitude, growth, my spiritual and creative journey all in one. Everything flows from a place of gratitude to God and every moment that's shaped me, and I hope that comes through.”

He added: “M$NEY was always meant to travel, when you feel good music, you feel it in your chest. That's what I wanted this album to be. Something that crosses every border.”

Asake said he would begin touring the album later this year, while describing the London performance as an opportunity to surprise his fans and share the project with a global audience.

M$NEY combines Asake’s melodic approach with Afrobeats rhythms and explores themes of prosperity, spirituality, gratitude and ambition. Following its release, the album topped streaming charts in more than 19 countries, including Nigeria, and reached No. 8 in the US.
